Cuatro Pilares

>>>> Sinisimulan ko pa lamang. Balik na lang ulit kayo <<<<

Sa mga estudiante ng "kasaysayan" (cosmogeny) sa lokal na aral esoterico, one of the more confusing na parte nito ay yung tinatawag na "cruz ng mundo". Sa kuwento ng cruz ng mundo, sinasabi na bago pa man nalikha ang mundo, mayroon nang isang cruz na nagniningning.

Palaisipan sa akin ito. Ang cruz para sa akin ay simbolo ng Kristiyanismo, at ang panahon ni Kristo started only 2000 years ago, and since the universe or even the earth is much much older paano nagkaroon ng cruz bago pa man nalikha ang mundo o universo?

Several months ago, I was doing a research ukol sa theosopicong Stanzas of Dzyan. Duon sa isang librong binabasa ko ukol dito, The Four Faces of the Universe ni Robert Kleinman, purely by chance ay may nakita akong magandang paliwanag:

There are three (3) thing that stand out here.

1. The cross is an old symbol, much older than Christianity. Ito ay simbolo ng pag-akyat ng kamalayan ng tao mula sa materyal patungo sa espiritual.
2. The cross represents the "material universe".
3. The universe is represented by its bounderies, i.e. the 4 spatial directions.

Bakit 4 na directions? Bakit hindi 2 o 3 o 5 or 6 or 7 or any other number for that matter? I have 2 thoughts on this matter.

1. The ancients must have a rough impression that we are creatures of the 4th dimension, 3 spatial (length x width x breadth) and 1 temporal (time). They then arbitrarily assigned the 4 dimensions as north-east-west-south.

2. While initially thinking that a day has only subdividisions, night and day, or black and white, the ancients saw that a day has actually 4 subdivisions, gabi (night) - bukangliwayway (dawn) - araw (day) - takipsilim (dusk). Thus to label everything as either 'black' or 'white' would be an error. It is more of a greyscale, with everything as a shade of 'gray'.

Pero balik tayo sa ating topic.
